Holmes Waistcoat Indigo
The rise of waistcoats was in the 1660s when King Charles II became fascinated with Persian vests seen in the court of Shah Abbas. The new style was announced by royal decree, with Samuel Pepys recording in 1666: “The King hath yesterday in council declared his resolution of setting a fashion for clothes which he will never alter. It will be a vest..”
The elegant double-breasted waistcoat is crafted of 11oz Italian stretch denim and is lined with soft wool. The waistcoat has a back buckle for fitting adjustment and eight-button front closure.
