Gilet Blue Indigo Herringbone
The rise of waistcoats was in 1660s when King Charles II became fascinated with Persian vests seen in the court of Shah Abbas. The new style was announced by royal decree, with Samuel Pepys recording in 1666: “The King hath yesterday in council declared his resolution of setting a fashion for clothes which he will never alter. It will be a vest..”
The long waistcoats are crafted of 11,62oz herringbone denim woven in one of the finest mills of Japan. Wear yours over jeans or a dress, falling loosely or with any leather belt to define your waist.
